OHS Act, Regulation & Code

2007/2008 OHS Code Review

The 2007/08 Review of suggestions for changes to the OHS Code is underway.

Director's Approval for Residential Roofer's Fall Protection Expires October 31, 2007

As of October 31, 2007, all employers in the roofing industry must comply with the fall protection provisions in Part 9 of the OHS Code. This follows a six month transition period that followed the expiration of the OHS Code's Part 38, (Residential Roofing). This provided roofing industry employers the opportunity to incorporate traditional fall-protection options into their operations.

Keeping with government's priority of providing safe and secure communities, Alberta Employment and Immigration is committed to enhancing workplace safety. Bringing roofers under the same fall protection requirements as other industries is another step towards making Alberta's workplaces safer.
